Chesapeake Academy School Visit

School Visit Chesapeake Academy Chesapeake Academy is a well-respected independent day school for Pre-K through 8th grade located on the Northern Neck of Virginia.  When I arrived, they had everything set up for me in the school library including a projector and screen that read “Welcome author Mary Jo Beswick”.  How nice that was! I gave three programs that afternoon, to three different age groups adapting my talk for grade levels. The 4th and 5th grade group was very much into my talk about how a picture book gets made despite having moved on to chapter books. The 2nd & 3rd graders were already familiar with my book and could answer every question I asked as well as ask me some mature questions like, “What’s it like to be an author?” and  Are you working on another book?” The Kindergarten and 1st graders were the group that stole my heart. They were so cute and enthusiastic about the story of Lola that when I asked them questions, they could hardly wait to be called on before their responses just rolled out of their mouths. The school had purchased copies of Lonely Lola Ladybug in advance of my visit and the teachers did a great job preparing the students so that they could get the most from the experience. I think they enjoyed the visit as much as I did. Great job Chesapeake Academy!Author Vist Chesapeake Academy 4 School Visit Chesapeake Academy me
