Leaning into the DREAM

It’s getting close now, my second children’s picture book, Messy Magic Birthday, comes out May 10 st!  Here I am living my dream of writing, illustrating and publishing picture books for children. That dream started over 20 years ago but it never got off the ground until I learned a little secret.  You don’t have to have it all figured out in order to begin. You simply lean into the dream . . . and keep leaning.  Ask yourself, “Does doing this lean towards my dream or away from it?” Small steps of leaning accumulate and before you know it you’re on your way. Then speak your dream to others. This sets in motion a powerful attraction of good people and golden opportunities. Like the talented Charles Lawson of Highlander Studios who helped me scan and adapt all my illustrations into “just right” digital files. And he was nice enough to make me these beautiful prints of some of my illustrations.  When you are on the right path, the universe conspires to help you. So you don’t need to have it all figured out . . . you just need to keep leaning into the dream.

  3. Wonderful Mary Jo. I applaud your success and determination in getting your second children book published so the little ones can enjoy the story and learn from it. 5. Mary Jo….my “leaning” friend!
What a delight to share life with you and BB! We’ve shared so many wonderful experiences together and have encouraged one another over the years to “lean” into our various dreams. I recall our first visit to the scrub filled land which became Corraluna, our dreams to visit many places in France and Europe together, and our various dreams and delight around seeing your dream and vision for children’s books become a reality. You are an inspiration to me.
    Keep leaning! Much love. Jeff
