Starting September 9th, my children’s picture book, Lonely Lola Ladybug, along with two of my original illustrations, goes on exhibit at the Karpeles Manuscript Museum in Jacksonville, Florida! As a winner of the 2016 Vinnie Ream Award, Lonely Lola Ladybug is part of the National League of American Pen Women’s Vinnie Ream Exhibit at the Karpeles Museum which means my little book will be in some pretty amazing company.
The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum is actually a system of Karpeles museums across the US that holds the world’s largest private collection of original manuscripts and documents. The goal of the museums is to stimulating interest in learning, especially in children and items in the collection rotate between museums quarterly. The archives include important items from Literature, Science, Religion, History and Art. Here is a sample of some documents the museums have to offer:
• The Original Proposal Draft of the Bill of Rights of the United States of America
• The Emancipation Proclamation Amendment to the Unites States Constitution signed by Abraham Lincoln
• The Original Manuscript of “The Wedding March”
• Albert Einstein’s Famous formula “E=Mc2”
I feel so honored to be a small part of this exhibit. If you are near Jacksonville, please visit to see the NLAPW Vinnie Reams Exhibit during the months of September and October. The opening reception is Friday, September 9, from 5-8 p.m. I wish I could be there but alas, it is too far for this author to travel at this time.
Happy September everyone!
