New Year’s Intentions and Desires

Journal 2015- 2016 Intentions & Desires

Journal Intentions & Desires

Instead of making New Year resolutions that tend to be too general and too easily lost, I make Intentions and Desires; writings the new ones in my journal after reflecting on those from the past year. My journal entry for January 1st 2015 says, “This is my year to shine!” and states three specific intentions: 1- get Lonely Lola Ladybug (LLL) published, 2-promote LLL on line and in person, 3-write and illustrate my next book. Well, two out of three isn’t bad: I’m still working on writing my next book and that’s a whole other blog I will write about later. The first two intentions are huge successes and the process has been a tremendous learning experience so I feel extremely gratified with 2015. “Shining” has been all about putting my book and myself out there to connect with others; taking opportunities when they come and creating them if they don’t and projecting a confidence that I don’t always feel. On the inside, I am not as comfortable with revealing myself to the world as it appears on the outside. Just like Lola, I have had to leave my comfort zone to achieve my heart’s desires. Oddly, this seems to be working!

My journal entry for January 1st 2016 says, “This is my year to build!” and states eight specific intentions. I’m not going to tell you all of them but finishing my next book is number one and getting it published is number two. “Building” is about growing my author’s platform, something I didn’t even know about a year ago. I have established a foundation this past year but now it needs to grow. I find growing anything requires a lot of dedication and help from others. I am sincerely grateful for all of you who have helped and supported me. Thank you. One of my intentions for 2016 is to be sincere in my communications with you and to help you in achieving your intentions and desires. Please let me know how I can do that by leaving comments here when you think of them. Here is to 2016! May you be happy, may you keep leaning into your dreams and may it bring you what your heart desires!

  1. Thanks I never have ventured towards new year resolutions as most break them. Usually because they are unrealistic goals. Achievable goals are what I need. It’s great to see the thread of encouragement, which builds.

  2. You continue to amaze me. Here I am playing golf and bridge and you are writing, illustrating, and publishing s book! I don’t know the right word, but proud of you is what comes to mind.

    • Ah! Thank you Marus! Your kind words mean a lot to me. I came to this late in life but it is who I truly am and what I want to do. My passion for the creative process and the desire to delight children with my work is what drives me. I just keep leaning into the dream.
